Hi, as Bentley is our first dog, I am always worried if there is something wrong and automatically think VET!!!!! He is 9 months old, choccie lab and on Friday when we picked him up from "Doggie Day Club" (Best place ever!!!) we noticed he had a very small scab just above his eye, not actually in his eye. It didnt seem to bother him and we left it but them yesterday we went over to see some friends who also have a lab and the boys were "rough" playing together and Bentley's scab came off and was bleeding a little bit. This morning it seems OK and has scabbed over again but would it be worth getting checked by the vet do you think? He might need some anti biotics, not really sure or if its scabbing over should I just leave it? I wouldnt want it to get infected if he gets mud etc in it! Its tiny, you can hardly see it unless you look closely. Thank Guys ;-)
Re: Scab above eye - trip to vets?? Personally, if it was me, I would just keep an eye on it. If there were any signs of it getting larger, or sloughy or moist, or if Bentley was being bothered by it, I would be off to the vet for advice though.
Re: Scab above eye - trip to vets?? Me too, just keep an eye on it. You could always bathe it with warm water gently so as not to disturb scab.
Re: Scab above eye - trip to vets?? Yes I agree, I would gently clean with tepid salty water, dab a spot of antiseptic cream then leave. Just observe for any signs of irritation, redness or heat.
Re: Scab above eye - trip to vets?? You could use a 2-3 drops of lavender oil mixed with water that will heal it quickly or surgical super glue also sold to apply false eyelashes which will close it up straight away try and avoid ruff play and it will heal far quicker . After 3 weeks of attending vets with ripped out claw injury we had to revert to natural remedies as nothing the vet gave us was working within 4 days the claw was healing well and Jake is now able to be exercised of the lead .
