up and running here, i have got a bungalow to move into, lots of surrounding walks, only 10 mins from where i live, this is only a temporary move. may be 12 month, its my sisters bungalow so will just be rented for the time being, do dogs adapt well to move ? it will be happening in the next 5/6 weeks

He will be ok :) I've moved house with a dog and have found them to be pretty adaptable. I have also gone on holidays with my dog many times (as have many people on here).

One tip would be to have him minded somewhere else on packing and moving day - they do find the disruption and uncertainty or packing and moving everything unsettling, I think. But actually moving into a ready-to-live in house with you - not a problem :)

Agree with Kate and Rachael, there should be no problem at all; where you are is where his home is! But good tip from Rachael about having someone look after him during the actual move, which might be a bit too stressful.

    I agree :D

Rileys done quite a few holidays and he stays with my in-laws a lot doesn't turn a hair but he does look concerned when the routine changes and we're busy getting ready

Good luck with your move, I hope you enjoy your new home :D

I think Theakston is - at the age of ten - on his ninth house??! Jasper really won't mind at all - home is where you are, as far as he is concerned. Brew, at nearly 8 months, has spent time in different houses belonging to family members with me - she even seems able to process different rules for different places. Furniture is not for her at my mum's, sofa is fine at ours... They really are hugely adaptable.

Keep his bed and a few favourite toys with you, just as you would with moving house with a toddler!

    hi,
we moved last july. conker coped very well with the move.
He went to my mums with his bed and toys the day before, he goes to my mums when i'm at work on a long day, so is used to being there.
This meant that not only was he not getting under everyone's feet, but he didnt get stressed by all the coming and goings.
He took the first couple of days to have a sniff about the rooms and garden, we found a few good walks and he just settled into his home and surroundings.
They do adapt easily, he was just 2 when we moved, so still young.
    good luck with the move

Great news Lynne, wow, you are gonna be busy!My Mum and Dad have just moved...Derry their redsetter was upset by the packing up of the old house ,this was a big part of the reason they stayed in my cousins granny flat until their new house was set up ...like has been suggested.Derry is grand now,was happy as anything once his cover was up on the couch and he could get back onto his favourite place x
