Hi all. Albert has just released a fairly long roundworm without a poo! He is 9 weeks (10 weeks on Friday) and was wormed by breeder at 2,5 & 8 weeks. We are going to vet on Friday for 2nd injections but I'm thinking I shouldn't wait that long and go & buy something from Pets at Home before then. Any advice on what I can give him from over the counter remedies would be greatly appreciated. He doesn't appear to be unwell in any way so far.... Thanks in advance Jan
Re: Worm help please. Hi Jan, I would treat straight away. Panacur paste for puppies is ideal and easy to administer. You can buy it at country stores and online. I haven't used this store, but this is the paste I use for puppies
Re: Worm help please. Hi I have just done my 8 weeks old with Panacur granules. My vet advised them and bought on line much cheaper. This site Pippa recommends is even cheaper
Re: Worm help please. You'll need to check with the retailer or product description for doses, but I think 1 syringe does up to 6kg of body weight. The granules are fine too. And may be cheaper for larger puppies. You can also buy it as a liquid which you can mix with a beaten egg, or pour over some kibble. I like the paste simply because it is easy to measure out, and to get into the puppy. They seem to like the taste. The active ingredient is fenbendazole. I'm sure other brands do it. If in doubt, give your vet a ring and ask what he recommends.
