They look like perfect labbies to me. :) If they are a cross breed the labrador part seems to be very dominant ;D. I guess its like Oberon said. People think labradors have to be barrel shaped fatties and don't recognice slim muscular dogs as pure breed labbies anymore. ;D ;D

i asked how old they are because they look just like Molly.

She is very tall and skinny like your pictures and has a longer skinny tail and longer ears as UncleBob mentioned.

I have her pedigree going back 5 generations. There are many FT CH (Field Trial Champions) in her pedigree so I guess she is a typical working dog.

I'm in a rush right now, but if you like I'll post a pic of her.

I would say they are probably pure bred labs, but I'm interested to find out why you don't know - where did they come from? I can't tell you how many times people have asked me what kind of dog Poppy is, whether she has a bit of Labrador in her; it used really to upset me, now I just see it as part of my mission in life to educate the world about working strain Labradors ;) .

Your dogs are beautiful, by the way. :)

Thanks all, looking for more replies.
So whats your final verdict, do they look pure??

It's just not possible to tell. They very well might be. They don't look less "labrador-like" than lots of other labradors. They look like working type labradors.

I wonder if it's helpful to you to suggest that you consider what you mean by "pure". Most people take this to mean that the dog is a pedigree dog eligible to be registered with an organisation that maintains a register of dogs by breed. In the UK, that's the Kennel Club. In the US, the American Kennel Club. If your dogs parents are registered, you should be able to register your dogs too - regardless of what they look like - and if you can do this, you have your answer: yes, your dogs are pedigree labradors. If this isn't possible, for whatever reason you don't have the necessary paperwork, you'll never be sure - regardless of what your dogs look like - or how many opinions you have.

Your dogs look like lovely, lovely dogs and I'm sure that you'll enjoy having them.

::) me too......prompted by the nervous pedestrian who said Dexter was a pitbull  ...and the yellow lab owner who said ( while Dexter was playing with her dog) ' you know,I bet he's got a bit of yellow lab in him!'

Unless you have been duped by someone/ a breeder and you want recourse I wouldn't worry at all, your dogs are beautiful x

Hahahaha! That's the funniest thing I've ever heard!!!

Even the alleged 'pitbulls' in the UK look nothing like actual pitbulls. So stupid that no one actually knows what these dogs look like when they're supposed to be a banned breed ... Do not get me started on BSL...
