Re: What home improvements have you made for your dogs?
I took our rugs up. They had tassels. I haven't put them back down... but that's also because I secretly don't like them. OH bought them unsupervised. : Clare
Heh heh.... Inside the house, not much here other than the 4 dog beds accenting each of our living spaces (kitchen, living room, TV room, and bedroom) : But then Simba was a year old when we got him so didn't have the puppy stuff to deal with...kinda... Most of our "improvements" have been/will be outside: Have already tacked up a piece of plywood over the fence to block escapes Will likely have to deal with other areas of the fence to prevent this, but we'll see... Need to enclose veg garden and flower beds to stop intrusions Need to enclose bottom of deck to prevent all the digging that goes on under there Etc etc....
Re: What home improvements have you made for your dogs?
Next week I'm thinking of pushing the boat out and hanging a tea towel from the towel rail.
Steady. Steady. ;D
Re: What home improvements have you made for your dogs? I read all of your replies en route to a show in London this evening. An excellent way to begin an evening of entertainment. I rarely go to see anything in London but I reckon I need to get these trips in before I have a puppy at home! Kind of worrying a bit about my new floor now, as it is evident I shall need to buy some rugs. Maybe my pup will be sedate and demure and won't charge about like some : : : Have got the stair gates but how are my 17 and 18 year old cats going to over them ??? Buy a cat ladder?
Re: What home improvements have you made for your dogs? Also - LOVED the rug/mat filming and the chocolate star of the show.
Vet bed is brill - Lots of colours available, doesn't slip at all and very easily wased and dried (it dries in half a day). I use it in her crate too. I get it from here - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VET-BED-NON-SLIP-ROLL-PRO-WHELPING-FLEECE-DOG-CAT-ANIMAL-PUPPY-KITTEN-BEDDING-/330980320680?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Kitchen_Steamers_Cookers_PP&var=540220836829&hash=item4d0ff6e5a8&clk_rvr_id=530856778022
Maybe my pup will be sedate and demure and won't charge about like some
100% NO chance!!

Re: What home improvements have you made for your dogs? Masses of fencing of the garden here, plus two gates. And just last week (the dogs are 3 and 2.5 yo now) we had to completely revamp the pond to stop Lochan from lying on the gravel with her front legs in the water indulging in her fishing habit. Oh and we had to get one of those remote control caddy things after Tarka destroyed 3 Sky remotes in a fortnight. Amazing how the teenagers learned to be more tidy when they couldn't work the TV.
Re: What home improvements have you made for your dogs? If you are thinking of a "sedate and demure" labrador puppy you may be thinking of those large stuffed animals that you can buy in upmarket department stores. Expensive initial purchase, no ongoing outlay and very low maintanence
Re: What home improvements have you made for your dogs? Vet beds - ok, will do. I expect I will eat my words about a demure and sedate puppy - betcha ya'all just waitin ta see!!!

(I just put the vet bed where she tended to skid around, not all over the floor. I have five pieces, which I now use for five 'beds' all over the place )
Re: What home improvements have you made for your dogs? Vet beds MARVELLOUS! I was horrified how much they cost but have discovered they are worth every single little penny. My little lad lives on his vet bed - comfort blanket and chew toy in one.
Re: What home improvements have you made for your dogs? Moved everything at tail level, except for one ornament . This was a china Jack Russell bought for me by my husband years ago . I have to admit to hating it, it had a rather nasty look in its eye , a crafty sideways stinky eye, and, despite numerous grandchildren playing with it, it managed to survive : It sat on the marble hearth where I secretly hoped for it to succome to clumsy baby hands, but no , the damn thing lived on . Enter Sam , never a really small puppy and very clumsy , he obliged my longed for demolision within days , I of course put on an Oscar winning performance of being mortified ;D ;D
Re: What home improvements have you made for your dogs? We have built a whole new sort of utility area..just finished the tiling, 2 stair gates, one of them complete with cat flap! :
Re: What home improvements have you made for your dogs? Four days ago we added a beautiful gate at front of property. 'Ah, that'll keep him safe and off the road now'. Today: 'How the ******* did he get out there????' Pongo has found out how to crawl round the back of the house, squeeze under the boiler outlet, hurdle the dustbin and find the road again. Big sigh. More home improvements needed.
Re: What home improvements have you made for your dogs? For Buddy's arrival we put up baby gates and bought a huge roll of Vet Bed- both have been invaluable!
