There's two trains of thought here i think -

    1. The upset was caused by something else and is still bothering him even after 24 hours on chicken and rice etc, possibly he didn't have long enough back on his regular food to rule it out. You could put him back on his regular food for a week and if he's still upset then the cause could be something other than the new food.

    2. He really cannot handle the new food and even a tiny amount doesn't agree with him hence the getting up in the night. In this case it might be best just to stick with what you know he does ok with.

It is hard to know....last night, no getting up. So, I'm going to continue with the slow introduction, we're about 4 days into the start of that so will see how it goes.

Yes, unless the new food has something really unusual in it, and given what Simba has eaten in the past with no ill effects, there is at least a good chance it's not the new food that's the problem.

Well I'm about ready to give up with this. Upped the amount of his new food again last night, and we were up letting him out.

I think I'm going to just throw in the towel. He's perfectly okay on the old food, so I think I'll just forget switching for now. It was really only to try to find something a little better quality, and I liked that this one was a little cheaper and that it was made entirely in Canada so no importing of ingredients, etc.

Sounds like a very sensible move!! Sometimes things just fall into the "too hard" bucket and you have to let it go :D
