Hi this is my first post. I have an 8 week old labrador called Max. I have had him since friday and he arrived with Skinners Field and Trial puppy food. He wasn't eating this at all also tried it with adding water and gravy and so was recomended to put some pedigree chum mixed through his dry food but wasn't keen to use pedigree chum so got Wainswright wet puppy trays 395g. He seems to like this better but only eating 1 a day. Find the label on the box isn't clear about how much he should have, seems to indicate he should be having about 4-5 but breeder says 1 pack ok but am worried it is too little. Has anyone else used this and what amount did your puppy eat? Any suggestions would be great.

    Thanks
    Darren

Hi and welcome Darren from me and my two dogs .
Are you giving a little of the kibble with the wet food ? if so, I would have thought that one tray is enough for Max , split into four meals per day . Four or five trays would seem to be an awful lot :)
Most dog food websites offer advice on ammounts to feed, so if in doubt, contact them, but bear in mind that most manufacturers will often advise giving more than necessary .

Hi and thank you for the warm welcome. Have just started adding a little kibble to see how he gets on with that. Yeah I did think 4-5 trays seemed a lot too! Thank you for your advice.

Hi and welcome. I have izzy she is 10 weeks. I too was very confused with the directions for feeding and was feeding her to much. We are using happy dog puppy food 240g divided in four meals. When izzy first arrived it took about two days to eat her food but our breeder told us not to worry that she would eat when she was hungry and she did.

Hi and welcome :) food is a common problem people have with new pups, it is very confusing to actually know how much to feed them. I started by feeding too much (the full amount suggested), and cut down to about 75-80% of the recommended amount.
The new food I use is spot on with the amount suggested so is much simpler to use :)

    Hi Naya and Carebear32
Thank you for your replies, glad I am not the only one who was stumped by the feeding guides. :) He has eaten 1 1/2 of the trays today so this does seem like a more realistic amount.
    Thanks
    Darren
