    Hi there,
Last year I raised some money for LRRS by making chocolate brownies and I made £100.
I would really like to do some more fundraising this year, probably for another charity, and I wondered about doing something I could get sponsored for but I'm not really sure yet.

    Does anybody have any ideas?
    Thanks

    Sophie

(I'm not looking for money from you guys, just a few ideas to get me started.)

How about a bake-a-thon or selling cupcakes or sponsored silence or walk? Or a fancy dress day?

I'm always more enthusiastic about sponsoring activities that have a good community outcome - beach cleans, wildlife surveys, litter pick ups, path clearing, things like that. Making stuff is good (brownies very good!), even better if it can be things people need - maybe a sponsored make and sell a dog toy. Like a "the apprentice" challenge or something like that.

Sponsored dog walk; try to get as many labs involved as you can, at one place or over a set distance. Would that have to be registered? Like a charity?
Or make some dog treats to sell?
Probably not much help, sorry! :-\

How are you with a sewing machine?

I made some great soft toy owls from a very simple pattern. I initially made them as a take home after my Granddaughters 2nd birthday party (they all loved them). I also presented one to a friend who had an 80th with a gift tag saying "A wise old bird for a wise old bird". She loved it and it now decorates her mantelpiece. They are quite small so are not expensive to make.

There is some hand finishing required which is nice to do at your ease with your labrador snoozing at your feet.

Or else make a recipe book. I would think lots of the cooks on the site would love to contribute. I did one several years ago. They sell well, especially if you can persuade the contributors to give some background info like "my white haired old granny used to make these for me". With the advent of the home computer this is not such a mammoth task and using fairly short print runs you won't waste paper by printing copies that you never sell.

So much fund raising goes on nowadays that it is difficult to come up with something new that doesn't require a lot of funding.

LRRS is Labrador Retriever Rescue Scotland
A friend had a rescue from them, and we had a couple of other links to them at one time
    LRRS

I think it has been mentioned before, but for anyone who likes online shopping, you can use Easyfundraising to donate to charity - I have LRRS but there are loads of other charities - local, national, dog, children etc etc that you can register for. Even local PTA comitees use them. COsts nothing to us as individuals.

From my point of view, anything that does not involve climbing up steep hills, or walking the Fife Coastal Path is a good idea. Having said that, I have intended to walk the coastal path for years....just in my own time ;)

Depending upon how considerate, or not, your local dog walkers are, and in keeping with the theme here, you could do a sponsored poo collection  - perhaps on a school playing field to help make it safer / more pleasant for the kids to play on. You'll need a strong stomach though and I have to admit that I don't think I could do it ;)

Another thought. A plant stall. Most gardeners are only too pleased to create new plants by splitting old ones.

Are you crafty Sophie?what about friendship bracelets....I know, you are a bit older but one of my goddaughters is 12 and she made some for her friends and they've gone down a storm....just leather lacing with some normal beads and one wow bead on it....guess there's a financial outlay there for you though (or your Mum,sorry Jacqui! )so Julie's thoughts about sponsored community ideas are probably better x

Hi Sophie, how about organising a "Dog Fun Day" in your area, you could have categories such as Best Puppy, Best Bitch, Best Dog, Waggiest Tale, Dog Tricks, Obedience etc. You could also have a table explaining to dog owners the importance of cleaning up their dog poo and the health issues to people if they don't. Could you maybe get the LRRS or your chosen charity to attend and talk about the huge responsibilities of owning a puppy/dog and about all the good work they do for rehoming rescue dogs? You could then charge people to enter each catergory and have a donation bucket and you could make and sell your lovely Brownies too!

A good community project to help everyone and their dogs but also fun :)

Whatever you choose I wish you luck and what a lovely thing to do :D xx
