Re: Feeding the right diet. Just something else to consider, 'nice shiny coat, lovely white teeth' particularly in a young dog, doesn't necessarily mean what you're feeding is, in the long term, not going to cause other problems down the line - or not, such are the vagaries of the whole feeding malarkey. I kind of get to applying some plain old common sense; would I feed my children the same diet / same food every day for the rest of their lives? Changing from Science Plan Puppy to Science Plan Adult (as an example) doesn't equate to changing ther food Kind of intuitively that doesn't seem to ring right - same goes for our dogs. There's a whole raft of material out there on what's best, what's not and it's confusing to say the least. My suggestion would be to not worry about it too much, decide what you want to feed (and nothing wrong with all in ones) and throw in the occasional something else for a bit of variety. But research the all in ones ingredient lists first (there's a couple of good, impertial web sites that do it for you) and buy the best you can afford. We manage to raise our children without fussing too much as to whether they're getting enough or the right things and you can trust yourself to do the same for your dog, in that sense, his / her condition will be your ultimate guide.
Re: Feeding the right diet. We fed Dexter on Costco's Kirkland puppy food and then migrated him onto their adult food (chicken flavour). Then a recommended page on my Facebook showed 'All About Dog Food' so I got reading their directory and realised Kirkland's wasn't the best food. Plus, Dexter was still putting weight on or maintaining despite us lowering his allowance which we've always measured out. In the past month, we've moved him onto Markus Muhle NaturNah. I may be wrong but I read its the closest food to feeding a raw diet. Dexter loves it! He's lost 1kg already and doesn't seem as hyperactive. I think with foods its trial and error. The only thing with NaturNah is you can only order online, I've set a reminder on my phone to always know to order a bag when I get paid.
Re: Feeding the right diet. Beautiful Tatze! I have a book by a well known field line Lab breeder and gun dog trainer who feeds Skinners and adds something similar to the diet. I would tell you more but I have moved the book for the new floor to be laid for the new pup!
