Re: Charlie being sick Not at all Jen - I really appreciate the input and thoughts. The vet said he'd call me if he had the results yesterday - but he didn't. Tomorrow or Tuesday, I think. His poo was perfect when we took the sample though. :-\ So if it's clear he still might have picked something up since, I suppose. He has had 30g of kibble and no more liquid poo explosions (sorry!). Just going to walk him down the road for a pee - when he wakes up, anyway. I'll pop him to the vet in the morning regardless, as will stock up on pro kolin at the least. Re: Charlie being sick Thanks all, he was perfectly normal (in himself and in the poo dept) last night and this morning. So I'll call the vet and see what they say about it and if they think they shoukd see him. They might have the test results by now, hopefully.

Re: Charlie being sick Spoke to my vet tonight - nothing in the poo sample. Zilch, nada, zip, zero - no bugs, no worms (eggs or adults), no parasites, no salmonella, no campylobacter, no giardia, nothing whatsoever but the full range of normal, healthily present bacteria expected to be found in an adult dog's tummy.... Right. Hmm....ok. Was on the tube, so he promised me a longer conversation tomorrow.

Re: Charlie being sick I just didn't give it to him while he was off colour, I thought better not - I was interested to see that after the due date, he has no significant worm load (the vet said "none" on the phone but I doubt he meant zero). It's been 4 months since a tape worm treatment too (recommended every 3 months, although my vet says 6 months is fine for Charlie).

[/quote] I very much agree - anyway, the advocate is also important for lungworm (which my vet takes very seriously here) and ear mites. So won't be regularly reducing the frequency.
Re: Charlie being sick Quite right Julie - got to look after Charlie. We have had a rise in cases of Lyme disease in our deer up here so I intend to be more assiduous with tick treatment and checking this summer. Its good to be aware of local prevalence and risks - vets are always the best source of info on this.
