So I made some home made bread today (you know where this is going, don't you...)

Yup. It was cooling on the counter...I went out...came home, it's not there. :-\

I HAD thought of moving it before I left, but got distracted...

How does a dog eat a WHOLE loaf of bread and not leave even ONE crumb behind as evidence?????

Ya, I know....goes with the POUND of butter he ate a while back.... ::)

    I'm with Barbara.
The smell of home made bread is so irresistible it would have been a CRIME if he hadn't grabbed the opportunity

THAT is why he's da MAN.

    Simba, you're my hero.

(My first dog was an accomplished, dedicated and ingenious thief and Simba's passion for pilfering reminds me of my lovely boy who I miss so much :'( so please indulge me for so thoroughly enjoying his transgressions).

    Haha! I love his style!
When I was a kid our lab was expert in the opportunistic food thieving department. My mum had once been baking sponge cakes for a sale and left them on the cooling racks while she went to answer the phone (this was the days when people had one phone plugged into the wall in the hall!). Blaze lying curled up on her bed. Comes back from the phone. Blaze lying curled up on her bed. Mum starts assembling the Victoria sponges...hmmmm I seem to have an odd number of sponges!!!

    Re: Oh brother...

Haven't seen any ill effects yet....only high quality dog food sets his tum off, apparently ::)

I keep wandering around the kitchen, looking in cupboards, thinking I MUST have put it somewhere (to have a pilfering dog as well as an aging brain is NOT a good combination) but nope, not anywhere.

    Not one crumb anywhere...

Will re-make bread this afternoon... Going on top of the fridge for the cool- down...

Don't be TOO impressed by the "home-made"....I do cheat a bit and make the dough in the bread maker and then let it rise in a bread pan and bake in the oven (I use regular yeast, not bread machine yeast). I like the results much better.

I have made my share of home made bread from scratch but this works just fine, the only drawback only one load at a time, I used to make 7 at a time... 8)
