If I had a penny for every time someone said to me "oh the size of her paws, you're going to be a big girl" I'd be rich! When were are out and about doing our socialising thing, so many people make this comment about Maisie. Do you think paw size really gives an idea of the dogs adult size? I don't think that she has big paws ;D
Re: Size of your paws! I dont know Debs, but someone said the same about Sam yesterday and he is almost three years old and I hope to goodness he wont grow any more
Re: Size of your paws! Yes, I think so..when Benson was very small, everyone used to comment on the size of his paws, I didn't really notice they were big..now I notice that at coming up to 7 months old he is bigger than a lot of the adult labradors that we meet on our walks.
Re: Size of your paws! Everyone used to say this about Charlie. Plus, his front legs looked super, super thick. He has actually turned out to be pretty moderate although looks well built against lighter labs. I can't blame them though, by the look of him at 10 weeks he did look like he was going to be a right bruiser! 3 May 13 - first to beach by JulieTandCharlie, on Flickr
Re: Size of your paws! Although, from the other perspective, I had a few people say that about Merla, and she's tiny(a very petite 19kg coming up to her first birthday). I think all lab pups seem to have big paws compared to their bodies. So don't assume either way really, parents' size and shape is probably a better indicator.
Re: Size of your paws! I'm not sure it is always a good indicator. My old girl Bella had large paws as a pup and quite a few people said the same thing to me. She did grow to be taller than the average female but she was not a 'thick set' labrador. I also think all puppies have large paws in relation to their bodies and all grow at different rates, a bit like children.
Re: Size of your paws! I think it's just one of those things people say like when they look at a baby and have to decide and say whether it looks like Mum or Dad!It was said about Dexter ( I actually thought he had quite delicate paws) and he's not a big boy at all ,but maybe there is something in it x
Re: Size of your paws! Surely, the size of the paws is dependent on what type of Labrador you own? The popular slim lined working dog weighing in at around 20 kgs will have much smaller feet than the larger Classic breed that used to grace the homes of the landed gentry, weighing 35+kgs. [/ Benson a classic breed, lives in a council house has feet the size of a camel presumably because it allows him to walk on water? Roger
Re: Size of your paws! This was Nero at around 5 months....his paws are huge and he still hasn't 'grown into' them! He is 7 months now and is already bigger than a lot of fully grown labs in my area
Re: Size of your paws! Tatze's puppy paws were quite dainty, but she's a big girl now (12 months) All lab paws smell of popcorn
Re: Size of your paws! Oh Mags I just love your pictures It helps also that baby Tatze was very like baby Merla - cute, cute, cute!
