Willow 8 months now, time is flying.

I want to get a bit fitter and was going to start including in our AM walk jogging a bit. We are normally out 30 mins and I was going to include my jogging within this time. It will be on grass so if she does decide to run with me wont be hard on her joints. I wont be running much or fast, be probably walk run walk run just for 10 minutes to begin with.

she is then walked pm for about 20-30 mins - I wont jog then

That sounds perfectly fine to me , all on grass too so no hard impact, go for it :)

I have been advised not to start under 12 months. But there's jogging and there's jogging. It might easily go over the 10 mins if you are enjoying yourself. That's what runners do, and end up going too far too soon and an injury (like mine!)
I'd be interested in what others say because eventually I'd like to do some running again. Injuries are hard to get rid of, as I learnt to my cost.

Sounds fine to me too, but keep it within your 30 minute time, and have her off the lead while you are jogging.

Hi, I do a lot of running with my two. I didn't start properly until they were a year old, however at about ten months I got them into the way of coming out with me, pretty much like you are doing. Just a few mins jog/walk, jog/walk, always on soft surfaces, and built slowly up to 5k non stop by the time they were a year old. Unless you are sprinting they just sort of trot busily next to you anyway (quite humiliatingly!). I think if they are on lead I am going to keep them to a max of 10k distance runs, as they have a funny gait going on, not like one they would normally use. Anything over that, and they will be running free, which means finding safe places for them. I've taught them a Lets Run command, and they know we mean business, they don't stop to sniff or anything. with Free Running sometimes we are doing the serious stuff with no stopping, other times I say Go Play and they know they can run about a bit, but they tend to just run with me anyway (unless Brodick sees a Pheasant ::)) Good luck and enjoy, I love running with my two!
