It can be hard to train a puppy - training three might seem impossible, but its not! I don't usually use a lot of treats when training, because I find it increases excitement which can decrease learning. I always use lots of high value treats for training the recall, because that's the most important thing a pup needs to learn, but for things like sit, down, off, I use spatial pressure and body language.

For instance I might have a dog on a flat collar and leash, and when I give the sit command, I increase leash pressure upward very slightly, and step into the dog's space to encourage a sit, when the dog sits I step out of his space and release the leash pressure. (The reward is a decrease in pressure rather than a cookie.) It is not a technique I recommend trying without an experienced trainer to help because it can be difficult to get just right, but once you get a feel for it, it works beautifully for many dogs. Of course all dogs are different so I don't use pressure on-off with every dog I meet.

The black/tan one is mine, she is a lab/GSD/??? shelter mutt. The tan one belongs to my nephew, she is also a shelter mutt. The last one is a client's dog, 12 week old chocolate lab who will be a service dog one day if all goes well. Now that we've got some house manners and no more biting, its on to leash work!
