    Seriously, the gall of some people.... :mad:

    I like the idea of bringing in the long arm of the law. Maybe having to pay money might make her think twice. Maybe.

    Outrageous behaviour. :mad:

    Dog warden services are organised by the local council. Where I live they are pretty hopeless.

    They say that:

    They will only attend to deal with a stray if it has been secured. (That is, catch it yourself, if it's running round annoying you, tough luck.)
    If you think it might be dangerous, don't bother calling them, call the police instead.
    They might not be able to answer the phone in office hours, because they are very busy (hmmm....not catching stray dogs).
    And the final bit of advice they give is that the best thing to do with a stray is take it to Battersea.

    Living next door to Battersea, I guess they sort of off load the problem...

    ::)

    Unbelievable. Dog warden or police sounds good idea. As usual it's not the dogs fault, obviously the owner doesn't seem to care where the poor little thing is. Why do people have dogs/cats/any animal if they're not going to be responsible and give them the care and love that they deserve. Makes me really angry.

    And then what usually happens is the police call the vet to go and sedate it. And always seem surprised to discover that in fact you are not Crocodile Dundee with his animal taming antics and that vets are just as liable to be bitten as anyone else by a dangerous dog. And most of us carry the scars to prove it.....Anyway, I've been out at work all day today so don't know if our visitor was here or not this afternoon. Got all 4 family labradors here tomorrow so he may be in for a bit of a shock if he does pop round.

    I know my local dog wardens personally from working alongside them at the kennels. There are only three to cover the whole Bristol area and they work really hard. They are good at their jobs and experts in dangerous dog handling.

    Just felt like I need to stick up for them a bit... They're not all rubbish I promise!

    Dog Wardens. My friend lost a dog the other day, a Bank Holiday Sunday and an evening! She was put through to an 'out of hours service' and they were so kind and understanding and very helpful.

    I'm sure they are not all rubbish, and the individual people are probably smashing. It's overall a rubbish service from my council though. In Wimbledon there are so many thousands of dogs, and the whole issue of stray and problem dogs is palmed off to the Common rangers (historically funded by the surrounding houses) and Battersea (a charity, and also well supported by the local community). So makes me look extra hard at my council tax breakdown - which is not a cheap bill!
