    Hi all

I'm having trouble posting pics of Albert via dropbox. I tried some yesterday on a previous thread of mine titled "Albert" and also on one of the tech threads but I'm not having much luck, just got a small icon which if I clicked on it took me to the pic, but I'd like to know how to get it to show without having to do that. I'm not usually so tech dense but this is foxing me big time.

Can anyone post an 'idiots' guide for me? I'd love to post some pics of him.

    Thanks in advance

I've got a Dropbox account and I just had a play with it (and a chat to my more tech savvy hubby) and it looks like all you can do with it is get a link that you can paste into a thread. You can't use Dropbox (I am fairly sure) to embed a photo in a post (so that people can automatically see it in your post).

So, I think that that is why you are having trouble - it's not that you are getting it wrong.

You might need a Flickr or Photobucket account....

Make sure the photo is small enough.

    Paste the photo into dropbox.

Make sure you are in the folder entitled 'public' (You can make new folders in there)

Right click on the photo you want to share and click 'copy public link'.

    Click the photo icon here.

    Paste.

    Done.

    :)

When you click 'preview' you will find that your photo is displayed, not just the link.

I use it all the time.

    Here is an example -

Ok, that works, thanks! :) I wasn't in the public folder.

Teapot - I think you were in the correct place but you were left clicking, not right clicking. Need to right click as Boogie has said.

It doesn't resize them automatically for you (bit of a pain), which Flickr does do.

What did you use to attach photos of Albert in this thread? http://www.thelabradorforum.com/index.php?topic=5365.0

I attached them directly from my computer, but can't remember how I did it!!! Think I clicked on 'Attachments and other options' and got a browse dropdown box but when I click now I don't get the dropdown!!

Thanks for this Boogie I'll give it another go!!

I've just found out that all accounts created after October 2012 no longer have a public folder, (which is why I couldn't find it!)

Sounds quite complicated.... Photo bucket is easy peasy. Just upload your pic and click the button to get the links. Done.

    Testing ...

(My kitchen - can you see Gavin curled up on the chair? :) )

Yes - you are right, it's easy! But dropbox is just as easy if you already store your photos there :)

Hi, I find Photobucket is the easiest to use. Just upload your photos, click on the one you want, then on the right side of the screen you will see a choice of links to share your photo, click on the white box of IMG and you will see "copied" flash up, this copies the link. Then go to the forum and paste the link. Easy peasey! ;)

The uploaded photos are pretty BIG 'tho!

(and dropbox is the same - right click and then into the post, I think it's often down to what you are used to :) )

My phone automatically uploads photos to Dropbox when my WiFi is on (samsung galaxy) so it really suits me.

I select photos from my camera folder, opening them in paint and resizing them (usually 20% or thereabouts) then save them in the Public Folder which you then can get the public link from.
I find it works well, and find it less hassle than Flickr and Photobucket because my pictures are already there, but I can see that as being the selling point for me, whereas being able to chose a size for uploading would be appealing to other who don't have that automatic upload.

As long as we can all find a method that works. And if in doubt JUST ASK!

Same phone and auto upload but I don't have a public folder and can't work out how to share without it. !

Teapot you are nearly there with the Flickr photo!! You just need to choose a bigger size from the options you get when you click the BBCode drop down menu.
