Morning all, Charlie has been limping, we rested him yesterday but today no better today so off to the vets. It's his left front little toe which looks swollen and the nail looks like some sort of trauma has occured so it could be an infection or worst case it could be broken, in which chase there is nothing that can be done but she warned it could be 2 months rest He was given antibiotic and anti inflammatory shot and has to go back tomorrow morning minus breakfast incase he needs X-Rays. He is not allowed in the garden and has been prescribed lounging around in the sunshine and to remain quiet and calm, well I would quite like that kind of prescription too thank you very much ;D Can't even think about 2 months rest as Charlie doesn't do rest Poor Charlie is a typical boy looking very sorry for himself. Hattie knows he is not himself and has been lovely not inviting any play and just letting him be a 'boy' ;D He was so good waiting at the vets with other dogs and got lots of fussing from the nurses and vet who thought he was super gorgeous and bang on weight too at almost 30 kg xxxx
Re: Charlie is Limping Badly I feel your pain Helen. If you remember, Poppy had a sprained tendon in her foot in January / February, and the enforced rest drove her and me mad. But stick at it - every time I thought it was better again and let her run around, she'd be limping again the next day… The more you can rest it, the quicker it gets better. It was a fine balance too between giving her doggie ibuprofen, which helps reduce the inflammation, and just having her feeling sad and hurt. Trouble was, when she got the painkillers, she started feeling good again, which made her want to run around and play. Rest up Charlie, get better soon. xxx

Re: Charlie is Limping Badly Poor Charlie A very good dog at the vets though. I do hope he improves quickly and it's nothing too bad. Those magic injections the vets have work wonders so I wil keep my fingers crossed. Let us know how he gets on tomorrow. Good luck.
