I have been working through 'Total Recall' with tatze since she was a 10 week old pup. It has worked really well. Thank you Pippa!

Here is a video of her recalling from a fresh, meaty bone :)

    **proud**!!

We seem to have had a recall setback when we've been out recently, so need to go back to basics again. Trip to the butchers for some super meaty treats required I think. The sachets of cat food just aren't cutting it at the moment!

Cat food didn't work for Tatze - it made her squitty. In the early days we used tinned tuna and salmon put in a little container. Now I use cheap cream cheese.

I still find the hardest thing not giving the treat to keep up the gambling effect!

In the house I use tripe sticks - Tatze will do anything for a tripe stick.

I keep one in a sealed plastic freezer bag for emergencies when we are on walks - swapping for dead rats etc, but they are too smelly to carry routinely as treats!!

    Re: Recall

Wow! That was super impressive! I wish I had worked on this kind of recall when Snowie was so young. But alas, I didn't know much then. He is now 2.5 years old and finally we have made a breakthrough and he finds me far more appealing than other distractions out there. Took a lot of work at "relationship centric" training. So pleased I learned about that type of training -- such a gentle, kind approach.

If anyone is reading this, please can you explain to me how I can start a new topic? I can't find a "Post a Question" (or similar label) button. I want to ask a question about digging on our sofa: when Snowie is tired, he gets into this primal state and starts to dig a nest. Problem is he has ruined our sofa in our bedroom -- he will move there from his bed in the middle of the night and start to dig a nest on it. He is otherwise not at all destructive and very rarely even digs a hole in the garden. Thank you!

    Hi MF
The way to start a new topic is to click the Home button and see a list of headings of topics. Pick one which is most suited for your question, e.g "Labrador behaviour - dogs behaving badly", click on this and it will open with a list of existing questions. On the top right of this you will see a button saying "new topic". Click this and off you go!

Thanks for your quick reply, Lochan! I now see the mistake I was making: I was clicking the "Unread Messages" icon and not the actual topic link, which meant I could never see the New Post link (all I saw was "Mark Unread"). This has only taken me a few months to realise!!!!
