I have been reading the Labradorsite information for awhile now. Decided to join recently. My name is Lynda, and I live in Sunny Central Florida! I have two Lab pups that I got when they were four weeks old. They are ten weeks old today. I have the runt, a creamy colored boy I named George. I also have the bully of the litter, shiny black Janie. They are my first dogs, and I love them already. I don't have any questions right now, but I am sure I will have some in the future. Hi, Everyone!!
Re: first labs! Hi Lynda, and welcome We'd love to see some photos of your two pups when you have a moment.
Re: first labs! Hi Lynda, warm welcome from me and meg yellow lab 14. I'm in Derbyshire UK. Yes please, photos would be great. We love our photos here.
Re: first labs! Hello and welcome Lynda , I was surprised to read that you had your pups at four weeks of age as this is really too young to leave Mum , most people in the UK have their pups when they are between 8 and 10 weeks of age , they still need Mum at four weeks , was Mum poorly ?
Re: first labs! Hi Lynda, hope you enjoy it here. I am in the UK and awaiting my pup - about 4 weeks to go; she has just turned 4 weeks this weekend and I 'll be collecting her at 8 weeks. Very exciting! Do your pups get on well together, considering one was the runt and one was the bully? ??? Like everyone else, I would love to see them!
Re: first labs! Hi and welcome I've got Harley who is nearly 10 months old and is a red fox lab. Would love to see photos How do the pups get on? Are they on special food because of leaving mum so early? They do grow so quickly don't they
Re: first labs! Hello and welcome to the forum. Four weeks is indeed too young for puppies normally to be separated from their mother. I mention this quite explicitly, because it is one of the aims of the forum that we make it very clear that we cannot condone the sale of very young puppies - in fact we have agreed not to give advice on how to look after puppies separated from their mother before seven weeks of age. Of course, there may be very good reasons in your case why you ended up with two four-week old puppies. I am happy to hear that they are doing well at ten weeks of age, and look forward to seeing photos of them.
Re: first labs! Hi Lynda, welcome to the forum. You must have your work cut out having them at such a young age, as well as being siblings. We have discussed on here before why pups need their mum until at least 8 weeks - things like bit inhibition - and also how difficult it is to have siblings (from the same litter) so I imagine you have had a fraught 6 weeks with them, double the trouble. Really interested to know how you are doing. jac
Re: first labs! Welcome to the forum from me and my lab Penny. I worry, like the others, at the age you acquired your pups. At 4 weeks they are usually only just starting to be weaned so should not have been away from mum unless there was a very good reason. Penny came to us at (we were told) 7 1/2 weeks old. Once we had all her kennel club paperwork sent to us we found out the breeder had lied about her age and we had actually come home with a 6 week old puppy. I beleive that is what has contributed to some of Penny's issues with other dogs - she never learnt to socialise properly as she was taken away from her siblings and mother far too young. However, we all love puppy photos, so would love to see some!!
