Does your puppy pass gas that almost knocks you off your feet? I feed Cooper dry dog food.....am getting him off the food breeder was giving him which is full of "fillers" onto a higher quality food.....doing this half-and-half for a couple of week or so...then 100% on the high quality food. Is gas unusual?
Re: Gas (passing gas) Hi, maybe half and half is a bit too quick. Maybe do the transition slower and over a longer time. I know pups get upset tums, so maybe the wind is blowing you a message of discontent! :

Re: Gas (passing gas) Penny used to have awful gas on Beta Puppy, tried her on Wainwrights and there was some improvement but still not great. Arden Grange sorted it out a treat!

Re: Gas (passing gas) Would love to change him to one of your dog foods but I live in the United States....so am changing from Purina Pro Plan Sport to Fromm's with duck, lamb and chicken.... but will make it less than half and half so his tummy gets used to it. Re: Gas (passing gas) It was a Turkey and Rice kibble I changed my last dog to. It is supposed to be kinder to their tums. It was certainly kinder to my nose
Re: Gas (passing gas) I think whatever you change to, just make sure sure you do it slowly, over the course of a couple,of weeks, starting with a 10% new kibble to 90% old stuff, then building up. I recently tried to switch my pup, and started off with too much new stuff. He normally has an iron gut but it just didn't work. Went back to a more gradual introduction, it still didn't work, i finally concluded there must be something in the food that disagreed with him. Back on the old stuff, no more gas.
Re: Gas (passing gas) Thanks, Lisa. Have gone back to doing much less of the new stuff and adding a bit more a day at a time. One other thing I've noticed: when I give him anything that has peanutbutter he gets this gas.....so will have to monitor that. I purchased a bully stick...a chewy....but then noticed (after the whiff) that it had peanutbutter in it! Just want to make sure he does not get an upset tummy. So will follow your advice....actually, already have. Thanks a bunch.
