Hi I haven't posted for awhile life has Ben a struggle lately with one thing and another, Poppy my lab x. Has been such a good girl lately....until today she has turned into a devil dog...she sleeps in a crate at night and we never hear a murmur right from when she was a pup, she often goes in on her own accord, but Wednesday night she had a melt down woke us up with barking growling etc, I went to check on her and it took ages to calm her down, I had to take her upstairs with us where she slept on the floor peacefully all night.
Then today she's chewed everything in site never a chewy dog, and every dog she has met she has acted so aggressively towards them quite frightening....any advice...vets??

Hi Lois, sorry to hear your Poppy has had a bad couple of days... Hope she is ok and nothing is bothering her, no pain or anything. I think I'd take her to the vets for a quick once over, to make sure.

Is there anything else going on in your life, that could be upsetting her, rather than it being a physical problem? If I remember rightly, she's a lab/border collie cross, right? That's a pretty sensitive combination...

Hi Karen she is always on high alert as it is...I don't what set her off Wednesday night but she has never been like that before...I have a feeling there were dogs barking outside where she sleeps...maybe that's what set off, also she does have trouble with her anal glands...I will see how she is this weekend...she's usually very loving and friendly...

    Hi Lois,
Sorry you've been having a tough time, nice to see you back x
My first thought was had something disturbed her/ frightened her outside.....I don't want to frighten you either but it could have been someone up to no good?If it was,I don't think they will be back by themselves of her reaction!
How has she been the last couple of days ?x

That's a good question actually. It was only recently that I learned that dogs can suffer from severe PMS. My mums usually placid, love everybody Yorkshire terrier turns into a totally different dog in the month before she's due in season - she actually bit my partner and has snapped and almost bitten my mum, dad and sister. She gets so grumpy it's unbelievable.
