Re: Carrots Hi Jade, Lots of dogs will eat vegetables as you can see. And I am sure that scoffing the odd carrot etc, doesn't do any harm, though mostly it just passes straight through. But I would not recommend deliberately feeding vegetables to a young puppy. At best she doesn't need them, and at worst they will upset her tummy. Pippa Edited to add, that some vegetables are toxic to dogs. Onions for example. So please do be careful.
Re: Carrots I've also read that apple cores are not good for dogs (cyanide in the pips!!), and grapes are bad for them, raisins even more so. Raw potatoes also not good.
Re: Carrots I read that about apple pips too Karen , but tend to think a dog would have to eat masses of them to be affected , but I dont give Sam the core, just in case . Also heard about the raw potato and onions , plus garlic and yet I used to give three of my dogs garlic regularly to help stave off fleas , I guess its the luck of the draw .
Re: Carrots Yes the apple pips are not good in quantity. I don't think the odd core at infrequent intervals will do any harm though, but safest bet I guess is dont feed the core. Lady got a fondness for Rowan Tree berries last year that caused me to panic. The vet checked up and said the worst that would happen would be she would get tipsy on them if they were fermenting! Oh and maybe the squiters!
Re: Carrots Zoey is three months, and she seems to be okay with carrots. Her poop hasn't changed in consistency. I give them to her to teeth on.
