Last night Obi had his test at dog club to see if he could graduate from Beginners and move on to Intermediate. He did very well and even came first in his class! My hubby was doing the handling (first time formally training a dog) so he was chuffed. Our first place ribbon. Obi was so tired after his efforts that he fell asleep on the couch with his 'Busy Bee'. He also turns 1 today so we are fully anticipating that he will now become entirely sensible and stop: - jumping on people - scanning the kitchen bench for food - begging food from everyone he meets at dog club - humping the couch cushions - surreptitiously chewing the leg of the dining table - whining with boredom if people stand around too long talking - etc. Obi was re-homed to us when he was 9 months old (a loveable but highly energetic and bossy teenager) and he has come a fair way in the last few months (despite the list above)
Re: We passed Beginners Oh that is wonderful!!! Congratulations!!! And as the owner of a lab who turned one a couple of weeks ago, I can confirm that yes, all the annoying habits will now magically cease. : ;D
Re: We passed Beginners Thankyou very much everyone! Obi got a toy lamb and a toy hedgehog for his birthday. And (don't tell anyone) maybe a bit of pizza...
Re: We passed Beginners Congratulations But I hate to tell you they get worse! My little angel has just begun to turn into a little devil and he is jut 14 months old. We did pass Good Citizen Bronze last night though, BUT he was tired and so quieter. Stacia
Re: We passed Beginners My little angel chewed up a soapstone hand-carved statue of a seal yesterday. Strong teeth and jaws from all those raw meaty bones... :
Re: We passed Beginners LOL, I don't want to hear that they get worse before getting better. Mind you, I'd believe it. It's not in the league of a soapstone seal (impressive effort there!) but the Birthday Boy pulled a wooden tomato stake out of the veggie garden tonight and demolished it in the lounge room before we noticed. Well done on your result last night, Stacia!
Re: We passed Beginners Well done and lovely photos. I hate to rain on your parade, but things don't start to settle down with a Lab until they are at least 3 years old! ;D
Re: We passed Beginners Lol! Yes, you have listed many things that Digby does, to name but a few. Very well done to both you and Stacia.
Re: We passed Beginners Well done.....and oh crap on the calming down. Think hubby has had a shock coming home to Amy. He left a scared little puppy and came back to a confident and mouthy little puppy.
