    Hello!
I am new to this forum. We have an almost 4 year old chocolate lab (Bailey) and we just recently acquired a 10 week old yellow lab (Jaycee). Each of these sweet girls have the same mom and are from the same breeder. We also have two indoor cats named Tucker and Rex.
All of our animals tolerate each other. Rex the cat does nothing more than look at the dogs, but Tucker loves the attention from both the dogs and from us humans. He likes to play a chase me game with the new puppy and loves to give kisses to Bailey. My hubby was worried that our older dog (Bailey) would not necessarily get along with or like the puppy (Jaycee) at first, but she surprised all of us and has really gotten in to having a playmate. We are very vigilant over playtime to make sure it doesn't get too rough and that eventually Jaycee gets time to sleep as well as giving Bailey some non-puppy time.
I have been exploring Pippa's website and I am very impressed about all of the great and amazing information she is providing! I am interested but haven't seen much information about introducing a puppy into a home with an older dog. Specifically I am concerned about making sure that Bailey doesn't feel like she isn't getting enough attention nor that we are showing preferential treatment to either of them. I would greatly appreciate any advice or information about having two dogs in the house as well (as this is the first time in my life to own more than one dog at the same time!).
I look forward to hearing from you! Thanks! :)

Hi there, welcome to the Forum!
I don't have any specific advice myself, as Lilly is my first dog.
There have been several chats about this, including this one here well worth a look only if to see the gorgeous picture of Poppy and Bones :)

I guess making time you spend time with both dogs separately is important, particularly for training. And it will be a while before your pup can go on the longer walks that you will be doing with Bailey.

would love to see some pictures (check out the Technical & Help section such as posting a photo

I hope you enjoy the help and information from the guys on here who have loads of collective practical experience!

    Welcome to the forum!!

Sounds like you are already doing a great job of ensuring that everyone is getting along well with everyone else. I agree with Jac that the separate walks will help, also separate training sessions. Also giving Bailey a break if Jaycee gets too annoying and bitey - just watch for signs of irritation from Bailey.

I'm sure the two dogs will become best buddies. And your cat Tucker too :)

B&J, I fixed the link so it appears - but you need the BBCode to get the image to appear in your post :)

They look great together. I have an 8 year old Lab and a 2 year old Lab, so when I had the younger one, mine would have been the same age as yours. Drift the older one, was very upset to begin with when the pup cried the first night. I always talked to Drift first, in fact always put his food down first, put his lead on first etc. I took them out separately for the first 6 months or so, the pup always settled in his bed when I took Drift out and got used to be left on his own which has been useful. They seem fine together with no problems.

    Hi there and welcome!

Sounds like they are pretty happy together so far! Can't give any advice, I've only had one dog at a time, but there are others here who have had experience, so don't be afraid to ask questions. :)

Hello , and welcome from me too :)
I used to have five dogs at the same time, now just two, but found that they settled into a routine well . Yes, new additions can plague the life out of the older ones to start with, but soon seem to settle into the pack and take their place, sounds to me like you are doing everything right :)

Hi from me and Molly (9 months old). I've only had one dog at a time, so no advice. Your two look very settled together in the photo.
