Our garden is like a scene from Watership Down when I open the curtains in a morning. Guess what Scott and Scout like best about rabbits. No not chasing them the apparently tasty pellets they leave behind and boy do they leave a lot behind. It's starting to drive me nuts. It's almost impossible to get any training done especially retrieves. You can bet it will land by a pile or even just one or two then the search for more begins. : it does make for some good stop whistle practise. A stupid question because I don't think there is an answer any ideas what I should do ? ??? My mothers suggestion, I kid you not, a dustpan and brush !!!! ;D. ;D
Re: What to do rabbit poo Annoying. Lots of rabbit poo up on the common too. Luckily, Charlie doesn't get too distracted by it. I suppose reducing or removing the rabbits might be an option but I get the impression you are pretty rural there and might have a bit too much space. Otherwise, try rabbit repelling plants (not as daft as it sounds - there are quite a few rabbits don't like) or even a mesh fence, to keep them out of at least part of your garden? That's what I do in the veg garden anyway!
Re: What to do rabbit poo Oh dear. I would have thought the best solution was to get rid of the rabbits. A google came up with a selection of ideas.... Get a cat Sprinkle cat litter around your perimeter Get a gun Get an electric fence Repel the rabbits with aromas they dislike. These include dried blood and the urine or feces of any of their natural predators. You can buy dried blood and fox urine at garden supply stores. Fox blood can be sprinkled on cotton balls tied to your garden fence. You must reapply it after rain. Sprinkle vinegar, liquid chili powder or hot pepper flakes around your garden. You can also place vinegar-soaked corncobs around the garden. Re-soak the corncobs every two weeks and after rain. Spray dilute tabasco sauce around your perimeter Spread human hair around the garden. In addition to deterring rabbits, the hair will break down into good fertilizer. Simply ask a hair salon for a bag of cut hair. ??? Find the rabbit warren and dynamite it Best solution was to invest in a rabbit proof fence. So....not much help really. Sorry

Re: What to do rabbit poo Wow Jacqui thanks for all those tips. ;D We have two cats on the farm that are very adept at catching young rabbits off the fields, playing with them and making them scream. . I've rescued a few but that was before the bunnies had worked out how to get through my fence. It's horse netting so small holes but not small enough. The cats still come onto the garden to use the bottom as a giant litter tray you'd think they could catch some of the garden rabbits as payment but no. We have a variety of guns. My cousins son has been shooting them with an air rifle but with limited success. Maybe the 12 bore shotgun would be better get rid of a few at once. : Unfortunately I'm expecting them to start coming down with mixy soon. A horrible disease which the rabbits on the lane at the end of ours have had for a few weeks. . It will make them easier to shoot and it's a good reason to shoot them and put the poor things out of their misery.
Re: What to do rabbit poo That's not so good Jen. Do you think it might be worth trying the cat litter? Would the dogs eat it?
Re: What to do rabbit poo You reply did make me laugh Jacqui ;D ;D Hope you manage to sort something Jen
Re: What to do rabbit poo
That's not so good Jen. Do you think it might be worth trying the cat litter? Would the dogs eat it?
Probably Jacqui. : I could try cat litter around the outside of the fence. Not sure what people would think if they see me. Trouble is I'd need a lot of cat litter. ;D
Re: What to do rabbit poo I laughed at Jac's reply too - try all that and you'll look like you're starting a witches' coven, Jen. I've no doubt that it works though. Adding a layer of smaller mesh on the fence was my only thought....
Re: What to do rabbit poo Yeah, maybe something like chicken wire run around the inside of your existing fence so they can't get through? Other than that I don't know I'm afraid.
Re: What to do rabbit poo I will grin and bare it a bit longer on the assumption they will get mixy soon. There are too many of them for them to not get it. Otherwise I will have to invest in a lot of chicken net I think to go around the bottom of the fence. Thanks all for you advice and tips it's been very educational on what rabbits don't like. I never knew you could but fox wee for example not that I'd ever thought about it. ;D
Re: What to do rabbit poo I read that apparently you can buy things like lion poo that help keep away foxes and stuff...
