Finally back home after a long weekend with the OH in Mississippi. Edsel is happily alternating between 2 bully sticks on the floor under my feet and I am resting up from the long drive back home today. I can't believe the difference in Edsel's behavior since our last trip. It's hard to sometimes see the progress when we spend so many of our days in the same old routine but getting him away from home really let him shine! He was able to recall for both me and OH almost every time even with distractions of children playing and other dogs walking by. He is improving on politely greeting people, although now he seems to think that if he spots anyone, no matter how far away and sits down quietly, they will come pet him! Now to figure out how to keep him walking on our walks and not have him sit every 10 feet waiting for a pet!. And lastly we stopped for a quick visit with my niece and her family, including my darling nephews Jake and Mason ages 6 and 9. They are waiting to bring home their new family member in just a couple weeks, a gorgeous little yellow boy who remains nameless at this time. Jake is somewhat nervous about dogs but is excited about the puppy and Edsel did wonders for his confidence. He was initially shy and a little scared as my little "black beast" played and ran around like mad, but by the time we left both boys were able to walk Edsel on lead quite nicely, had him fetching, sitting and had learned to tell him "off" when he wanted to jump! I was very proud of him and can see him changing so fast. Well, that's all my bragging for tonight. image by loriluckett, on Flickr Sweet dreams from Edsel and Mason!
Re: What a difference a couple weeks makes Sounds like great progress! It's hard work having a well behaved lab puppy (I don't have such a thing!). Really pleased for you that you had a successful visit.
Re: What a difference a couple weeks makes Sounds like you had a fab trip ans doing really well with Edsel you go ahead and brag as much as you want

Luckily both of them have also raised lab pups in the past before their married lives. My niece is so excited to get him home. Lori
