Last night I let Blondie out and there were two cats in my yard. One kitten and one somewhat older cat, about the same size as my puppy. Maybe a little smaller but not much if so. Puppy didnt see them at first, and ended up being about 5 ft from them when she finally did see them. She didnt know what to do and the cat arched its back and HISSED. My poor puppy tucked her tail, urinated, and ran up to me. She tripped up the steps several times and also along the way howled a very "I am scared" cry. Poor poor puppy.. I petted her told her it was OK and went to chase the cat away. She followed, behind me. I hope she gets to be able to defend herself as she grows. poor puppy..
Re: First introduction to a cat - did not go so well Oh little Blondie!!! She sounds like such a love.
Re: First introduction to a cat - did not go so well Sounds very normal. The cat is just standing her ground and your pup is learning its best to keep away from cats. My pup lives with 2 cats and they are fine once they learn that a cat is not a pup. All more learning for your little pup
Re: First introduction to a cat - did not go so well It's a big scary world for little pups - but the more she experiences now when she is very young, the better she'll be later.
Re: First introduction to a cat - did not go so well Oh Blondie, they took you by surprise. Don't worry, you're still young, it's a learning curve.
