Re: Diet for over weight lab with colitis The evidence would seem to suggest that Reiki it is indeed ineffective.
Re: Diet for over weight lab with colitis Mum has now agreed to watch the titbits. I ordered the fish skins for Lilys Kitchen - that and the food arrived today. I've gone through everything with mum and told her what is allowed, she is sensible mostly, with a few reminders. We'll see how we get on. As for the Reiki - it was just a thought, glad I mentioned it. Thanks
Re: Diet for over weight lab with colitis
I'm an x nurse and we used the Bristol stool chart on the wards, which would be very useful with Lottie but don't think the other half would be too impressed, not too interested in bodily functions.
I/ too, am intimately familiar with the Bristol Stool Chart. Sorry....couldn't resist ;D ;D ;D
Re: Diet for over weight lab with colitis Ooooo! Charlie has type 3. Is that good? What's a good poo? Oh god. This take poo consistency analysis to a whole different level! 8) ;D ;D ;D Should we have the poo chart as a sticky in the puppy section?!? ;D ;D ;D

I have this book-marked at work. It is the most often used bookmark I have would you believe. I'm not REALLY obsessed, but we don't really have good words to describe poop consistency. The most quoted reply to the question "what is your poo like" is "normal". Yeah....right!
Re: Diet for over weight lab with colitis Yes I have my own version of the Bristol stool chart . Very similar but slightly easier descriptions. Firm, firm/soft, soft, very soft, sloppy. I haven't done diagrams though. : My dogs fit between type three and four on the Bristol chart which on my chart would be described as firm/soft going soft. OMG if you didn't think I was obsessed before you do now . ;D ;D ;D
Re: Diet for over weight lab with colitis We're a type 3 too!! Unless poorly when we whizz down to 6 and 7 then slowly crawl our way back up the chart to 3 again ;D
Re: Diet for over weight lab with colitis Type 3 here too. My OH thinks this poo obsession indicates we should all get out more....

Re: Diet for over weight lab with colitis I've just come back from a few days away, no internet coverage - to find everyone's obsessed with poo! You lot need to get out more! Though I must admit I have had one or two conversations with dog owners on the camp-site, about the subject. That's their dogs poo, not their own. Lottie doing ok on her new diet, though she has declined one or two of her feeds - that would have been unheard of a few years ago. She stayed at home with Mum. Hoping its just the weather, can tell a lot by her eyes which seem bright enough. Has developed a limp in her back leg, don't think its the cruciate, more like her foot. Will keep an eye on it. One day she will walk and walk and the next its only 100 yards, I leave it up to her. How is the weather affecting other owners dogs? PS Lottie is a type 3 now. Due for a weigh-in this week, hopefully.
