    hi!

My 10 month old is still mouthy. He bites when he is excited or wants something. In the mornings if I try to give him a toy he just wants to lick/bite my hands.

    Any advice?

Hi, we have a nine month old who is 90% of a great dog. However he is very mouthy, and nips ( grabs) at you when he is over excited, over tired or getting too hot. Not had expert advise, so not sure that we are dealing with this correctly but I am not letting him mouth us at all, by saying no in a firm way, I stroke his chest not his head (was told by dog trainer that not all dogs like being stroked on the head) and have bought a Beko bone (expensive but indestructible!) which I am encouraging him to carry so he can't grab at us. If he gets carried away I put him away for a few minutes. Only recently started this so will keep you posted. Also interested to see other people's views.

Deal with it like you would with a little puppy e.g. things like:
    - remove your hands, stand up and walk away
    - give him a toy to replace your hand
    - reward him (pats and attention) for interacting with you without mouthing.

Be 100% consistent with the above and he will learn that mouthing isn't worth it.
