Hi, i am new to the board! I recently got a chocolate Lab she is AKC. I saw both parents, Dad is a black 80 pound and mom was yellow 60 pound. I got her last week and she week at 14weeks old. She was very very skinny. she weighed 12 lbs. anyway i dewormed "she had worms" her and gave her first shots. since then she had put on 3 pounds and looks better and is more active. my question is, she is 15 weeks and weighs 15 lbs. is this normal? i am guessing the worms stunted her growth, will she catch up in weight? is there anything i can do to make sure she growths to be a normal weight?
Re: 15 week old female Help! Hi and welcome to the forum Labradors vary hugely in terms of their size and weight. Still, at 15 pounds (about 6 kilos) your 15 week old puppy does sound very light. Very generally speaking I'd expect that a pup of that age would weigh a lot more. Here is an article on Labrador weight that you might find useful. Feeding your pup a good quality diet and the right quantity is the way to go. What are you feeding at the moment? It's great that you have wormed her and got her vaccinated Has your vet been able to give advice on food and weight?
Re: 15 week old female Help! She does sound very light for her age. I would definitely speak to your vet about food, but don't be tempted to give her lots of 'extra helpings' as this could make her tummy poorly. What is her name? Do you have any photos you can post?
