Hi everyone. Haven't been on in ages!! Anyway is it usual for dogs to suddenly become unable to go the whole night 10-7 without needing a wee? For a week now we have been coming down in the morning to find murphy has weed on the kitchen floor, but still goes out for another wee when we let him out. Should I take away his water in the evening? Although I don't notice him drink much in the evening anyway. Has anyone else had an older dog start to do this? It's very annoying! X
Re: 16 month old no longer making it through night Hi Frankie, do you think Murphy might have a urine infection? A phone call to the vet for advice I think. Hope he's OK. xxx
Re: 16 month old no longer making it through night Hi Helen, yes that had crossed my mind, especially at the weekend as he had been weeing whilst walking along quite a bit! Which was very wierd but he's stopped doing that now and doesn't appear in pain or anything. Il give the vet a ring when they open.
Re: 16 month old no longer making it through night Hi Frankie I think a quick call to the vets is a good idea. Let us know how you get on
Re: 16 month old no longer making it through night Just back from the vets, he's got a temperature so she thinks it is prob a uti. We've got painkillers for now and they are doing urine tests and going to ring if he needs antibiotics. Poor baby he has been a bit grumpy so this must be why! Thanks everyone
Re: 16 month old no longer making it through night Oh poor Murphy, good job you got him to the vet he was probably in some discomfort Get better soon Murphy, lots of hugs from us xxx
Re: 16 month old no longer making it through night Poor lad , UTI`s can make dogs ( and humans ) feel proper poorly , as well as the need to wee more often and its often painful to wee too , he should get better quickly once the medication kicks in x
Re: 16 month old no longer making it through night Oh god I'm so worried!! The vet has just rung to say that murphys urine results were very unusual with high levels of billarubin (something like that) which could suggest his liver isn't working properly and also his urine is really really diluted and he's drinking a lot of water which could mean his kidneys arnt working properly. So got to take him in tomorrow to have blood tests. I was so sure that he was fine!! Argh
Re: 16 month old no longer making it through night Sorry to hear this; I hope it is sorted out soon. Alice

Re: 16 month old no longer making it through night Big crossed fingers for simple results and easy to address. Remember you've done the right thing getting your Murphy to the vet's right away and that means whatever the issue is, it's easier to fix now vs three weeks from now. Let us know when you find out!
