Bouncer is 17 weeks old tomorow. My wife just said "have you noticed he doesnt bite us hardly at all now". I must say I hadnt noticed but now she has bought my attention to it I realise she is right. The biting phase is nearly gone, so to all you bitey victims out there, dont give up, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Re: 17 weeks & the biting is nearly gone. It's amazing isn't it. We aren't totally there yet but very close.i have been following the advice I found on here using time out, I only needed to use the timeout for about 2 days now I just say timeout and he stops no need to use it. I think it's a combination of things, getting older and also more exercise. Does the pinching things soon stop? Please say it does.
Re: 17 weeks & the biting is nearly gone. My 15yr old son was pleased to read this as Darcey is using him as a chew toy

Tatze is 18 months and has (just about) stopped pinching things. Gypsy (5 months) has never, once. pinched anything - yet!
Re: 17 weeks & the biting is nearly gone. Gypsy is such a darling. I have realised I'm treating Rolo for pinching things because I bribe him with a treat to let go of whatever he has. Must get the drop command started.
Re: 17 weeks & the biting is nearly gone. Our last lab boy Max was still pinching things right up til the end, on his last day with us aged 11 and a half (desp ill with lung cancer) he managed to follow my OH out to the garage and pinched a Winnie the Pooh teddy bear (that was in our box of things for the cemetery for our twin baby boys' grave) he had tried to steal it everytime he got in the garage, but in that day we let him and he took it in the house and cuddled it They do stop chewing things they pinch as they get older, but they still steal shoes, socks, remote controls, teddy bears..... When they went to the dog boarders, I had to leave her a pack of ham and a note saying 'he will steal things, and you will have to 'buy them' off him for a piece of ham, who trained who??? Lol Lou x
Re: 17 weeks & the biting is nearly gone. Yay for less biting!!! Can't add any encouragement on the pinching front however How moving about your Max, Louby-Lou :'( What a dear boy.
Re: 17 weeks & the biting is nearly gone. Aww... :'( Max sounds like he was a lovely boy.... Simba has settled down quite a bit on the pinching things except when we have people over. Then he's roaming around, looking for things to take (usually paper things, don't know why, but the CDs on the stand are a close second). :

Re: 17 weeks & the biting is nearly gone. Max sounds like a boy who made you smile and loved your family, Looby-Lou. :'( :'( Charlie nicks stuff, all the time. He has an amazing ability to know what is very high value....
Re: 17 weeks & the biting is nearly gone. What a stoic character your Max was Lou , my last Lab Tess was just the same , enjoyed life to the full even when she was really poorly . I was sorry to read about your twins Lou , must have been a terribly hard time for you, no doubt Max helped to ease you through xx
Re: 17 weeks & the biting is nearly gone. Max sounds like a fabulous character nod he obviously knew what was important :'(
Re: 17 weeks & the biting is nearly gone. What a lovely boy your Max must have been Lou - a labrador through and through. And so very sorry to read about your babies.
Re: 17 weeks & the biting is nearly gone. Thanks everyone, Max truly was a top dog and a typical lab, full of mischief and character and so loving, he idolised our older lab collie x Lizzie too. I don't remember many puppy problems with Max as I think Liz must've keep him in check. We lost our first set of twin boys 24 years ago, and a year later had another set of twin boys who are 23 next month. Now we have our lab twins Jack & Barney too, guess I'm just meant to do things in pairs ;D We got Jack & Barney as they are from some of the same pedigree lines as Max was, and Barney is like him in so many ways, and bizarrely Jack is like Lizzie who was no relation at all!! I def think a lab makes a house a home x

Sorry to hear about your losses Lou - you obviously have very fond memories of Max and his antics though I think you have done very well being lone female in your family xx
