My pup Legend did his first Informal on April 22nd out of 12 pups he took 3rd place. Yesterday I drove over to Mt. Iron MN for their informal. there were only 5 pups but only 2 placed. Legend took 2nd place. I am so proud of my 11mo old boy.

Well done both of you :)

At the risk of showing my ignorance- what is an informal?

An informal is like a fun event no points for placements towards a title. The puppy was 2 single marks not more than a 100yrds, as it is still cold we only did land marks. The 2 informal had 3 series of the 2 marks each getting harder. the 1 st series the marks were 90degrees apart, the 2nd set was about 60degrees and the last was about 45 degrees all marks were around 75 to 100 yrds. He had to bring the duck back but not deliver to hand.

Well this is our 2nd placement at our 2nd informal. He will be running his first UKC hunt test in June.

I don't understand gun dog stuff, but that's an impressive ribbon! Well done Legend on your results.

Ah thank you for the explanation and photo, my he is handsome! :)

So you have 2 marks...and you send your dog out for one of the two seen marks. Gradually increasing the difficulty by narrowing the angle between the two marks? Super challenging!

Well don Legend. You both did very well, and he looks super-pleased with himself - handsome boy.
