I have 2 smaller dogs, and my 4 month old chocolate lab jumps on the older one. Gracey wants to play but is getting larger and jumps on him hard. The older dog does not fight back and is scared. My other one will bark and play growl with Gracey but Gracey plays very rough. Help!
Hi Gracey's Mom, try to get your dogs to play with each other by you acting as the centre of attention. For example, getting your Lab interested in retrieving a ball rather than playing rough and tumble with your other dog. If your other dog likes retrieving, let him join in, and with judicious throws of the balls, let the other dog succeed too. In doing so it becomes a positive game for all. As soon as the rough play starts, then call a time out. The central idea is teach your Lab that she does not need to be riding roughshod over the other dog to have fun. And that calm interaction with the other dogs means the game with you will continue. regards
