would it be a problem to give a puppy of 4 months 2 meals a day? instead of 3? i would split her porition for the day and give twice.

lunchtime so hard as i am out and willow now pooing in the house.

i feed her at 7am she is starving so i cant feed her any later and then she is fed again at 11.30am before i go out and i am not back till 3pm. then she has dinner at 5pm.

    any ideas please?

Our pup bmoved onto 2 meals a day when she was 4 1/2 months old, she was fine, the only thing we did was give her a treat or a small handfull of kibble at lunch for a week or so so that she ajusted to not having lunch then when she was getting no lunch at all we moved her tea forward a little bit again for a week or so just to get her used to it as she was getting hungrier earlier but now that has stopped

Hi there, the reason for splitting the daily ration into small portions is that some puppies cannot cope with larger quantities of food. It gives them diahorrea. Therefore the vast majority of breeders/vets etc do recommend three meals a day until six months. The only way to find out if your puppy can cope is to try it and see.

Hi Loverlab, my baby is called willow also and is now one week over 5 months. I also changed her to 2 meals a day at around 4 months as my other 9yr old lab was fed then too. She seemed fine with it (always hungry tho but then aren't all labs!) but I do watch out for runny poops in case I am giving her too much in one go - but she's grand so far.
