My I took my puppy to the dog park at he was playing with a big 125 pound pitty and the pitty accidentally hurt my puppy. My puppy was limping at first but now he's running and walking just fine. But I noticed the hair that got scraped off has like a greenish yellow tint. Do I need to go to the vet.

The yellowish colour might be a grass stain. Were they playing on grass?

If he is not limping any more then that's good. If he does start to limp again then I would see the vet about that.

In relation to the skin injury - if the skin is intact (ie not cut through with separated edges showing) and it's just a scrape on the surface of the skin then that is not something that you'd generally need to see a vet for. If it is a cut through the skin and you can see separate edges of skin that can be pulled together then that is something that you need to see a vet for as that kind of thing may need stitches.

    Hope he's ok :)

If it's just a graze on the surface of the skin I would bathe, a couple times a day, with a saline solution. 1 teaspoon of salt to 1 pint of cooled boiled water.

    Hope your pup soon recovers.

If he keeps licking it then it won't heal up.

    Where is the scrape?

One thing you can do to stop him licking it is to use a cone on him. This goes around his collar area and stops him from being able lick or chew other parts of his body.

It might be best to go to the vet. The vet can sell you a cone and also check that the scrape is not getting infected.

Instead of the cone could I use the bitter spray or would the bitter spray just mess it up more

I would think the spray might sting, and potentially cause irritation in the injury. If my dogs are licking a lot at an abrasion, I can normally distract them, which stops them doing it. But if your dog is insistent and won't stop licking, then a cone is the best answer.
