We purchased our 3 months old male black lab three months ago. He had a slight ear infection and I've been treating it until a week ago when it finally cleared up. He also showed signs of fear with loud noises such as the vavuva cleaner, lawn mower and now the electric drill. Just different things that come up he seems to be finding more things that bother him. He's also become quite the watch dog! But it seems to be about people outside our gate that have loud noises or something that looks scary to him! I've been distracting him with play, and introduced him slowly to noises from a low volume or small doses of what he fears. He's very large for his age and he's very excitable. Seems like anxiety. He's a licker! Lick lick lick you constantly! Can anyone share some answers to help him. He's very sweet, smart and loves everyone except for strangers. Please help! Thanks

Are you in the UK or elsewhere?

You are describing a lot of fear-based behaviours there, in a very young puppy. It is likely that you need considerable help to make the most of the time you have left before he leaves the socialisation period, to try to mitigate the fear as much as possible. I would recommend working with a force-free trainer or behaviourist in a 1-2-1 way to address these issues, as well as ensuring he's enrolled in a training class.

Hi i agree with@Jo Laurens. Our pup has recently displayed the behaviours that yours is doing. She also had barked at noises from quite young.

We contacted a professional behaviourist who thinks Isla is showing signs of anxiety We are now working at helping her with this. We hadn't realised how stressed she was.

Maybe your pup would benefit from something similar. Good luck

No we're in Nevada. He's getting better, been working with him on his fear issues. Thanks to this forum, I've found many posts in behavior issues and so far seems to be working! Thanks so much to all of you here for having this forum, your helping a lot!
    Blessings
