Re: 9 week puppy Probably still 4 times a day . Times I think to suit you but not too late so it gives time for him to de-poop before bedtime. I think. Seems ages ago!
Re: 9 week puppy How often was the breeder feeding him and at what times? I'd be inclined to go for the same rather than changing things up too much at such an early age. If you don't know then, as Jacqui suggests, smallish meals 3 or 4 times a day are considered best for the small stomachs of puppies.
Re: 9 week puppy I'm feeding him 4 x daily, 7am, 12pm, 5pm, 10pm. I was wondering if I could cut this down to 3 meals? If so what times would I feed?
Re: 9 week puppy I would move the 10pm for for sure. I think we did 7am 1pm and 6pm or thereabouts when we moved to 3 meals but that probably was 12 or 13 weeks. Lilly was 11 weeks when she came to us and for rhe first week at least I am sure we fed 4 meals. Alrhough we moved to 2 a lot sooner than others. Probably by 16 weeks? She was also pretty loose whilst trying to settle on new food.
Re: 9 week puppy When Harley was that age we fed at: 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm. I carried thus on until she was about 12/13 weeks old.
Re: 9 week puppy Check the food packaging for how much. I will go by their weight. Lola is 12 weeks and weighs 6.3kgs so has 270g a day in 4 portions. 7am 75g 10am 60g 2pm 60g and 6pm 60g and 25g as rewards.
Re: 9 week puppy Bear in mind that the food companies often over-estimate a dogs requirements, so be a little mean. And often that they base amounts on estimated adult weight too.
