I am always banging on about Charlie so I thought Hattie deserved a little of the lime light I have been working hard over the summer on her stop whistle which is now pretty good, I can stop her on an outward run at a good 50 meters with lots of distractions and recall her instantly. I can stop her from a potential prey chase and recall her from dogs, joggers etc. most of the time, nobody's perfect ;D She used to creep forward after a stop so I shortened the distance over some weeks and slowly increased it and now she mostly gets bum on ground quickly. Her sit/wait with me in or out of sight is pretty rock solid at any distance even upto about 100 meters then a recall. I think it's not too bad as we have only been training recall & stop to a whistle for just over a year and she is 7 years old bless her Hattie to the rescue We were walking through the graveyard in our village when Hattie alerted me to a baby Blackbird that was stuck behind the gate, she sat still whilst I removed him and off he flew Barking when the door bell rings is improving too, sometimes she doesn't bark at all. Door bell rings no barking = treat!! People arriving, off to bed for a couple of minutes = come and say hello and no jumping up This applies to Charlie too. Met Sid the dog that attacked her and broke her skin causing bleeding :'( she sat calmly I was talking to my friend, Sid barked at her, Hattie remained sitting = treats and lots of praise We sit down for dinner, off to bed until I release her = treat. This applies to Charlie too. Hattie has had to learn a lot since Charlie arrived and turned our lives upside down : Thank you xx
