I've just been in the kitchen, sorting out my brine solution for the turkeys. Willow, as always, sitting attentive and hopeful at the threshold. Shadow nowhere to be seen, so I assume he's either in his crate having just finished his brekkie, or out on the terrace enjoying the sunshine.

Then I walk into the living room and he's sitting, proud as punch, on the sofa. In my spot.

Dogs. Are. Not. Allowed. On. The. Sofa.

I looked at him, said "And what do you think you're doing?!". To which, he rolled on his back for a tummy rub.

    We're doomed.

Oh no! This really made me chuckle! Ruby can now jump on the sofa (although it sometimes seems like she is an olympic high jumper the way she does it!) and I'm still at the stage of finding it hysterically funny but I know I need to be more serious in the telling her to "get off".
We are determined not to give in but she looks sooooo comfy!

Haha - not me! Gypsy isn't allowed, that's flat :)

She's accepted the fact now - it took from 15 weeks, when she was allowed in the front room, to 6 months for her to give in.

It was harder for her as Tatze is allowed!

It has been said before & I will say it again.

A sofa isnt a sofa without a wet Lab on it. I am sure its a law or old charter or somthing.

I wish OH wasn't such a misery, I would love both my Labs on the sofa, but he says NO and as one is nearly nine and one nearly 3, I don't think he is going to change his mind :(

I put up with the no dogs on sofa rule for years. Then I woke up. Lifes a compromise and I have been compromising for 30 years. All dogs are now allowed on the sofa. It's leather and it wipes clean.
The dog hairs are on the sofa whether you allow them up or not. My greatest joy and unbelievabley my OH, is a dog that likes to come up and cooray in.

My biggest issue is the damage they'd do to the sofa with their claws.

The story of our sofa purchase is a long one, filled with misery and woe, Land of Leather going bust and the loss of a lot of money, plus unnecessary and ludicrous shipping costs. So, as much as they're not the most precious things in the world, our sofas took so long and so much money to get here that I think a claw going through the leather would send me into a very dark place!

Even if the little man did look beautiful propped up against the arm. ::)

Holllie knows that day time is no settee but the evening is allowed and we have lots of cuddles, we tried to keep her off but I missed having our nightly loves :)

Fiona , you could do what I did in the beginning....... I put a lovely matching throw on one chair. I then trained Cassie to use that one part. That worked , right up until Jake whom I thought had a bad back climbed up beside her.

our pups are allowed on the sofa...I should take a picture of the poor thing...since it's DESTROYED from our last girl who was on it...except it's rather embarrassing the destruction she caused on it.... :-[ We have repeatedly had conversations about the attributes of the next couch we get, the type of cushions that will hold up best to large dogs in residence, and the type of upholstery... ::)

Two years in and Holly has showed no inclination to get on the sofa. She seems quite happy to snuggle up at our feet or in her bed.

Sorry I seem to have two, I shall fathom this out one day.

Jake after 13 years of not being allowed on the sofa. No training required.

Cassie on the part she's allowed and Cupar with whatevers left.
