    I can tell when RijL has had a lot of socializing. He sleeps a lot, and is more willing to sleep on me, and the needs he has for yesterday’s undershirt to sleep on. All these new places, new people, new dogs, really mean NEW SMELLS to integrate. 40% of a dog’s brain is devoted to smell.

    Not quite correct ;) . Proportionally, a dog's brain assigns 40 percent more space to analyzing smells than the human brain does or another way of putting it is the percentage of the dog's brain that is devoted to analyzing smells is actually 40 times larger than that of a human. :)

    Thanks for clarifying that, @Jojo83; it didn’t sound right to me, but I hadn’t had the time to look into it :)

    Although, 40% more space is different to 40 times more space.

    Don't you just love when websites quote information differently :) . I think the take away fact is that dogs use 40 more something or other of their brains for smell than us humans :)
