Out on our local walk, Harley was playing in the stream, I was on the bridge throwing her ball in. She came out of the water onto the bridge and she was sat about 5ft away from me. The collie that attacked her a few weeks ago came around the corner, led down and as I soon as I moved towards Harley to get her out of the way he attacked.......harley had a go back and tried to get to me, but he wouldn't let her. I managed to grab her collar and put my knee out to stop the collie having another go. It was really vicious . The owner of the collie.......well, she just stood there and said 'oh, he'll stop in a minute' OMG I am so frigging angry. She eventually put his collar on him, walked 10foot them let him off again to come back charging towards Harley . Luckily Harley was sat and I was in the way to stop him. I can't believe this has happened again. Who could I phone because I have had enough of this owner and her dog?

Oh that's so awful. Poor you and poor Harley.

I'd try reporting it, so if only if it happens again you can tell this person that you have already reported her dog and will do so again.

You make such reports to your local council's dog warden service:

Harley's gum was bleeding, but no other injuries luckily. I hurt my shoulder intervening, but at the time I was more worried about Harley being hurt.
I have just done an online report to the dog warden so hopefully I will hear from them after the bank holiday.
5 mins before this happened, Harley was playing with a pug and its 2 young children and the dad commented on how gentle and calm Harley was, especially as she's only just turned 2. The kids had great fun throwing the ball in the stream for the dogs.

I reported something similar to the Police. Bearing in mind Zthe Dangerous Dogs Act. Definitely contact the dog warden.
I wish I had been with you to back you up.

How awful for you and Harley. I know what I would like to do to some dog owners - they shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a dog. Hope you and Harley recover from the experience very quickly. Hugs from me and licks from Juno

Sorry to hear this, what a horrible time you and Harley have had with this collie. I would also if possible take photos of the dog/owner any injuries to Harley or yourself. It doesn't sound like the owner is even bothered

Oh, I SO sorry to hear this! Poor you, and poor Harley. Everyone else has given better advice than me, but I just wanted to send sympathy.

    (And Pongo is FURIOUS.)

That is so bad. You were si brave to try stop the attack. I am so scared of unknown dogs, I definatley would not have been able to do that. hopefully, there will be some action taken against the dog owner. Attacking dogs need to be on leash.:(

    That is dreadful.

The collie needs a lead at the very least and probably a muzzle.

Big hugs, it must have been horrific at the time and you must be absolutely livid in the aftermath. Let us know how you get on with your report.

Oh Naya, that's dreadful. I think this is a matter for the police. Perhaps a visit from the police will make her realise that her dog is out of control.

Oh Naya, I am shocked to read this! Poor Harley, and poor you! Wish I could of been there with you, Casper and Benson would not have tolerated that sort of behaviour!
I guess you have already written the report. When I come back from Hols, we MUST go out together with the dogs.

So sorry for you and Harley, Naya. That is an absolute disgrace. This woman should be fined or something drastic done. She is either ignorant or an idiot not to realize her dog is dangerous. And you are putting yourself at risk between her dog and yours....I know....your instinct kicks in and you need to protect your boy. Hope the dog warden gets back to you....if not, go to the police. I really feel for both of you.

I honestly do not think the police would do anything about this. Attacks by Pitbull type dogs that resulted in serious injury, yes, possibly - otherwise, I think you'd be very lucky to interest the police in this. The best you can hope for is that the local Council has a keen and dedicated dog warden (in my experience, even that's not very likely unfortunately).

I do think - very unfortunately - we are sort of on our own with things like this, and working out your best coping strategies in advance is the best you can do.

Carrying a stick is a big comfort, I find. Helps down the slippy bits by the river too. :)

Really sorry Ternaya, that is horrible. It makes your blood boil when your dog gets attacked, sort of churns you up inside. I think the idea of a stout walking stick is a good one.
