Hamilton (4 months) and I went for a nice long run in a field this morning! It's a beautiful day in Minnesota for this time of year . Hamilton was doing great with his recall and I was giving him his chicken pieces as a reward sometimes. Silly me forgot to bring his leash with, but he usually does great and comes right back to me when I call, so i decided to not run back home to grab it. The backyard/field we run at is alongside a walking trail, but the trail is up on a hill. Of course Ham saw 2 ladies ,walking on the trail, one wearing a nice white jacket, and decided to run half a mile to greet them. A soaking wet Hamilton got his paws all over this ladies' jacket and would not come to me, even for chicken! So I ran and tried to grab him and picked him up and carried him back to the backyard and ended up tripping and tumbling down the hill and dropped Ham, who then ran another half mile to meet the ladies again. I ran over there again and picked him back up apologizing again and again and carried a 40 lb, wriggling, wet, and excitedly peeing black lab a half mile back to the house (did I mention I'm 5'1" lol). So I learned today to turn around and go home to grab the leash no matter how well he is doing with his recall, and that I really need to workout more. On a good note, he is exhausted and now I can get something done in the house today
Re: Bad Hamilton! ;D Oh, dogs will be dogs, won't they? You poor thing, carrying a wet, peeing, 40lb wriggler!! ;D Hope the ladies were very understanding.....
Re: Bad Hamilton! Hahah the ladies were actually encouraging him which didn't help my case much. He was so tired from running that he tried to jump off the couch and stopped and fell back asleep with his hind legs still on the couch and his face on the coffee table.
