Age- 2 years While-yellow color pure Lab. Leo would get red bloody spots randomly on all over his body. Vet gave some Apoquel and Neosporin powder, didn't help. Vet again gave anti biotics, didn't help much and did culture bacterial infection test. Later he gave steroids and another anti biotic after the results from Culture test (Vet consulted skin specialist) - bloody started to go away, wounds started to heal up. Fur started shinning again. Vet concluded that Leo has some weird bacterial infection which is not going out of his body. Now after 1.5 months of treatment the bloody spots are coming back. Above treatment costed $1k and I love him so much but I cannot afford $1k every 3 months on this treatments. Leo has history of allergies. Let me know if you need the Vet records of medication. Please guide/help me what can I do to get this fixed. Thanks, Winny
There should be some way to "get rid of it for good", is there some condition that keeping giving him this, maybe a dirty area he has to walk through? You might try coriolus versicolor (its boosts the immune system), it helped on our Airedale that had cancer, but be careful, its strong. Try taking him to a different vet for a different opinion/ treatment.
Hello Winny, Skin infections start from the outside, usually where the skin is compromised by a wound, extreme dryness, etc. Allergy can be one way skin gets compromised. What kind of food do you feed him? It might be worth trying a minimum-ingrdient dog food, or just cook some chicke stew for him (chicken, brown rice, carrots, no onion, no garlic, no spices). If the skin problems clear up in a month, you know your target, then just find what else he can eat. Scott
