It's a fairly recent thing when off the lead and he gets himself all excited when he see's them, he doesnt do it all the time & its not continuous barking but I would prefer to nip it in the bud so to speak. He's a 7mth ESS
Re: Barking At Birds In Trees!!! Hi I'm not sure of the best way to deal with this but you could train a quiet cue. I used the clicker to train a quiet cue to stop Scott whinging. It's very useful and works in lots of situations. Rachael (Oberon) gave me very good advice on how to train it and it worked quickly. If you go on the clicker board it's the thread called What am I doing wrong. I think it's on the second page. You don't need to use a clicker if you don't do clicker training. Pippa has also done some training articles on barking I will try and find them.

[/quote] I will need to look at doing this too as Nellie is a bit of a whinger for no apparent reason!
Re: Barking At Birds In Trees!!! It really does work. Scott would whinge while I was eating. . I tried everything I could think of. It only took a few days of Rachael's method and I was eating in silence. ;D
