Re: Barking Mad How did I know he was heading towards a repetition of dominance theory??! I do agree with him in one important area - that a cat wouldn't hang around if you tried to take it out begging... Clare
Re: Barking Mad Obviously not a dog lover! I have to respond to one comment he made - humans are not 'more evolved' than other animals. Every single species of animal and plant alive today has been evolving for exactly the same length of time.
Re: Barking Mad
Obviously not a dog lover! I have to respond to one comment he made - humans are not 'more evolved' than other animals. Every single species of animal and plant alive today has been evolving for exactly the same length of time.
I suppose that depends on your start point; if you believe the world and life was created in 6 days then the start point is the same for all. If on the other hand you accept the evolutionary view, then the process has being on going. I think what the writer was trying to say is that humans are more sophisticated by comparison with other species? Roger
Re: Barking Mad I know that his post and this thread are not about evolution but, to clarify my comment, I was talking about evolution, a la Charles Darwin. All life forms have a single common ancestor and have been experiencing and responding to evolutionary pressures since then (even if some now look more different to the starting point than others!). In scientific terms, it is not correct to say that anything has been evolving for longer than anything else. Anyway, sorry for causing and perpetuating an extreme digression!!
