well in front of myself today, got the sunday dinner all cooked, as logan is coming to stay today :) my son was pkaying with jasper in the garden when i heard an almighty cry, my son was out of his mind jasper had gone over on his right back leg, .....he could not walk , me being the way i am we jumped straight in the car to the vets,.....i was heart broken in the vets, thinking his front legs are bad now his back legs, vet examined him,.....she was satisfied that it was just the way he had gone over,......no treatment needed, ......when i say heart broken, them of you that have read my past post will understand this to be true,....we have a love ly vet , who cuddled me and put my mind at rest :) alls well that ends well :).....jasper is now fine, so much for me being cross with him,

    I feel for you Lynne.
With Lilly's bad hips, when she recently twisted her wrist, we were straight off to the vet. ::)
It was a bit of a one-minute wonder but we all felt much better having got it checked out.
Sounds like you have a lovely vet :)
Hope you have all recovered from the shock now
    xx

You can't stop them from doing everyday things....can't keep them confined 24/7 unless you crate them (and you might need to do this after any shoulder op he may need).
Don't blame yourself....you are doing your very best for him :)
Are you getting the hydro through your insurance? Lilly gets regular hydro swims that we do more just for fun so pay up ourselves, but I know the insurance can cover it too if its on the recommendation of your vet. Mine needed an ok letter from the vet before our first swim anyway.
    Its fun
(although I do need some incentives for miss lazy-bones ;D )

no we are paying, i need a letter from the vet,....how often do you think he would benefit from the swims, ?.......did lilly have the operation for her hips ?...we have been looking at web sites today 25 pound a 30 min swim. we was thinking may be once a week ......just looking up new things to teach him :)

Lilly hasn't had an op (so far) - on regular anti-inflammatories and doing really well. Really not limped for ages.
I think swimming is good and really depends on how much you can afford. Weekly if you were well off!
We average fortnightly, but we pay £15 for 20mins in the pool, followed by shampoo, shower and blow-dry ;D ;D

shampoo and blow in, for 25 pound for 30 mins,....we have had a talk and decided on once a week for now,.....if he needs we will up it to twice a week, ???....never had so much trouble with my children, as the vet says things come in 3 , first jaspers elbows, then logan and jasper again, hope this is the last of it :).....never expected it to be like this, worry worry worry :)

i can afford the once a week, if he needs more than once a week i would struggle :).....all we seem to do is spend on him,....burst his beds, bites all his toys and they are not cheap as you know,.....oh and all the leads and harnesses i have gone through,...it will be worth it when he is a lovely healthy boy :)

Oh Lynne,my heart was in my mouth when I saw the title of this post.......thank goodness he is alright, bet you were sick driving him over to the vet.the hydrotherapy sounds a great idea for him.the whole experience from getting him in the car to his after pamper is activity for him and will expend energy.let us know when you get him booked.Dont give me frights like that, these dogs are going to finish me off! ;D

i drove my son carried him in the car,.....its a good job our vet understands, she said to me he is fine he just twisted it when he fell,.....she had a dog with displasia and he lived to be 12 ,.......think my son might of been a tad embarrassed his mum sobbing in the vets, :) when we got in the car he said he didnt know how he had held his tears back :) ......we have looked on line and this area all seem to be about 25 pound, going to ring the vet to get a letter from her, saying he is ok to do hydro,.....hopefully get him booked in for the end of the week .........something you mentioned on another thread about getting dexters nails cut,.....i asked the vet to look at jaspers, she just cut the small one said the others dont need doing :)........awh my vet gave me the best cuddle and hug :)

Your vet sounds lovely ;D Its important to care for the owners as well as the animal and she sounds so kind.Dexters has had his nails clipped twice since we have had him they get sharp as he doesn't Do a lot of pavement walking ......the pavements feel too hot at the moment so he doesn't get to wear them down.
Hope everyone is having a nice relax and chill this eve after a dramatic day.....hope Logan still came and you all enjoyed your roast dinner ;D
