I can't believe I have scrapped a stinger out of poor Caspers bottom!

Our honeybees are out and about now,(we have 5 colonies...) and I guess a bit hungry. Got home let the dogs out for a quick hoolie. Casper comes racing back to me clearly perturbed and glancing back at his bottom. I grab him and straight away hear a buzzing by the base of his tail..Casper plainly relieved to be rescued, starts wagging his tail, further irritating the bee. Meanwhile Benson thinks this great and his rushing around like a mad thing...not very helpful, and I ashamed to say I yelled at him.. :(

Get Casper in the kitchen, man-handle him on his back, get glasses, torch, and eventually free the furious bee.

Got the stinger out, right by the delicate skin of his bottom, don't think much venom was pumped, he did have a slight swelling by the base of his tail, and he is sitting a bit gingerly....

Gave Casper an antihistamine, and watched very carefully.

I think he is OK...he keeps just looking at me, like I have done something awful to him. :(

It must have been you who gave him a sore bottom because you spent ages poking around there! ;) You can understand his point of view ;D
Seriously though, I hope he doesn't have any nasty reaction and that his nether regions are a bit more comfortable in the morning.

Oh dear, the poor boy!!! He must've sat on it.

Well done on your swift intervention and well done Casper for being fairly compliant with it!

I am often digging out stings from my hubby, we had a bad year for stings last year...I had one just above my eye...now that was horrid.
Casper is fine now, well he is acting fine, still a bit of a bump by his tail, hasn't had a poo tonight, will feel happier when he does...sigh...I don't think he has forgiven me yet though...and he is a master of the sorrowful look. Will get some steak for him tomorrow :)

A very good point...he was so good, it must've have been very stressful for him. He didn't growl once...just hasn't stopped giving me these awful looks....maybe plain steak won't be enough....think it just might have to be fillet at this rate... ::)
