Hello all Hope all is good! Sorry , it's been quite a while since I was last online! But thought I should share an update!! Things are good , Bella is doing really well with physio and hydro and she's having x rays in 2 weeks ( left knee will then be 10 weeks post op and right knee will be 8). It's been HARD work, but we are nearly there The specialist said if all is ok at the x rays we can start some off lead work The barking has reduced because I worked out that when I put her harness on she quietens right down and goes to sleep!!!! Amazing!!!!! Maybe it's a comfort thing?! She always starts barking and running away when I pick it up ( and bowing) but as soon as it's on it's a complete transformation!!!!! Especially when she starts barking as on it goes and peace and tranquility is restored and she often goes and gets in her bed even with visitors here!! The physio and specialist are really pleased with how she's doing and have said I'm an exceptional owner we've been doing all of our exercises and she's now started been able to do bits of climbing, the crate is getting collapsed today ( it's been left open the past few weeks with living room door closed. I've ordered her a silent night memory foam bed with boulders that match my sofa ha , very pricey but worth it Not long now!!!!!!!!
Ah nice to see you stop by,heck it seems such a while since your diagnosis,I'm so glad you are this stage now and her recovery has gone so well, big credit to you care so take that compliment from your Vet,you deserve it xxx Very Best Wishes Angela x
So good to hear from you and to hear everything is going so well. Thanks for the update and keep up the good work! xx
That's really good to hear! So very glad to hear you have got her safely through the worst of it. Well done you! Take the return to exercise slowly, then hopefully all will return to normality and you'll be happy with Bella living a normal life. Just on the harness thing...just watch that the harness is not 'closing her down' - this is what it does to Charlie. He is not quiet and calm because the harness is comforting, it's because it depresses him. Of course, all dogs will react differently, but if she clearly dislikes the harness going on that's at least a risk worth considering.
Yer you could be right....... Yer, she does go a bit subdued when it's on ....so I did wonder .....but she's snoring away in it now..... It's weighing up the pros and cons ... As we are doing more exercise the barking is getting better anyway and I only put it on when I really have to as otherwise she goes wild ( plus it stops her jumping) she's not subdued in it on walks though, she is bouncy and happy?! Random!
My two are the same. They don't like their harnesses and do shut down when they're put on, however much I shovel down their necks in the way of treats. They seem their normal selves when on walks, but I do notice a difference if I do any more formal training in them. It's subtle, but they're not as lively. I only put them on for safety now; if we're going to be somewhere busy and there's a chance of them getting spooked, for example.
Good to hear from you. Bet it seems like its never going to end, so really good to feel like you are getting somewhere
Thought it was easier to point you to the info. I use Flickr with no problems (apart from remembering my password ) http://thelabradorforum.com/threads/posting-a-photo-from-flickr-update.10872/
She's a beautiful girl. I looked at the Silentnight memory foam beds for Juno. Looks nice and comfy and Bella likes her new bed. I eventually invested in another Karli memory foam bed so she has one in the lounge and one in the kitchen.
I got this one in the sale.... still £100 but it matches my sofa and she seems to like it, now theres no more crate
