It is Dyson's first birthday on the weekend and I wanted to give him a cake that is safe for him to eat (the people at the party will have chocolate cake!). Can anyone help me with ideas for a cake for his special day?

We like to have a cake that everyone can eat. We usually make a sponge cake with cream and strawberries.

Once, when my old dog Nicolae had a birthday we (and Nicolae) were invited round to a friend's place for dinner. They lived nearby so we all walked and we had already made the cake so we took that too. Nicolae was thrilled to find himself going for a walk with a cake.

One year we had a green tea cheesecake for Nicolae though, after we got back from our Korean trip.

Well, we just made a basic vanilla baked cheese cake recipe but added about 2 tablespoons of green tea powder to the mix (you can get it from Japanese or Korean supermarkets/shops). It worked out quite well :)

Obi is very good, thanks Lynne :) His teeth are all good now.

Make sure you use powdered green tea rather than just green tea that you'd make a cup of tea from :) The powdered stuff is the texture of flour.

I'll let Obi know that he has an admirer :)
